  • Unauthorized Nicotine Pouches Recalled in Canada

    Several flavoured nicotine pouches have been recalled across Canada because they were not authorized for sale in the country. Health Canada issued the recall Wednesday for all lots of eight types of Zyn nicotine pouches. They were flavoured apple mint, bellini,black cherry,citrus, cool mint, espresso,original and spearmint. The pouches had 1.5 or three milligrams of nicotine in them. On Thursday, another recall was issued for eight types of nicotine pouches sold by XQS, containing four and six milligrams of nicotine.

  • Belgium becomes first EU Country to ban disposable e-cigarettes

    Belgium has become the EU first country to ban the sale of disposable vapes in an effort to stop young people from becoming addicted to nicotine and to protect the environment. The sale of disposable electronic cigarettes is banned in Belgium on health and environmental grounds from 1 January. A ban on outdoor smoking in Milan came into force on the same day, as EU countries discuss tighter controls on tobacco. Announcing the ban last year, Belgium’s health minister, Frank Vandenbroucke, described electronic cigarettes as an “extremely harmful” product that damages society and the environment. “Disposable e-cigarettes is a new product simply designed to attract new consumers,” he told the Associated Press. “E-cigarettes often contain nicotine. Nicotine makes you addicted to nicotine. Nicotine is bad for your health.”

    The Macau Legislative Assembly today approved the first draft of a bill that will, if passed, ban sales of all vaping products in the wealthy Chinese semi-autonomous region. The proposed law would prohibit manufacture, distribution, sale, import, export, and transport in and out of Macau. The Macau Executive Council announced in January that it planned to propose a sales ban this year. On May 27, the government presented its draft bill, which includes proposed fines of 4,000 Macanese pataca (MOP) (about $500 U.S.) for individual offenders, and fines from 20,000-200,000 MOP ($2,500-25,000) for businesses.

  • New Jersey Will Force Vape Shop to Carry Nicotine Gum

    A bill passed this week in New Jersey will require vape shops and most tobacco retailers to keep nicotine gum or other nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) products in stock and available for sale. The bill exempts cigar shops from the requirement.If the bill becomes law it will require “any entity that sells, offers for sale, or distributes for commercial purpose any tobacco product to maintain a stock of, and offer for retail sale, at least one type of nicotine replacement therapy drug, device, or combination product that has been approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration for cessation of tobacco use.”

    Australia’s ban on nicotine-inclusive e-cigarettes started on October 1 ,2021. Vapers in the market for nicotine e-cigarettes, vape juice (nicotine pods), or liquid nicotine (e-liquid) must not get them by prescription only. Vape shops and retail stores may continue to sell the non-nicotine vape/e-cigarette products. Other nicotine-containing products, such as nicotine gum, patches, lozenges, chews, sprays, and other vaping products that do not contain nicotine also do not fall under this rule.
