Several flavoured nicotine pouches have been recalled across Canada because they were not authorized for sale in the country. Health Canada issued the recall Wednesday for all lots of eight types of Zyn nicotine pouches. They were flavoured apple mint, bellini,black cherry,citrus, cool mint, espresso,original and spearmint. The pouches had 1.5 or three milligrams of nicotine in them. On Thursday, another recall was issued for eight types of nicotine pouches sold by XQS, containing four and six milligrams of nicotine.

The Macau Legislative Assembly today approved the first draft of a bill that will, if passed, ban sales of all vaping products in the wealthy Chinese semi-autonomous region. The proposed law would prohibit manufacture, distribution, sale, import, export, and transport in and out of Macau. The Macau Executive Council announced in January that it planned to propose a sales ban this year. On May 27, the government presented its draft bill, which includes proposed fines of 4,000 Macanese pataca (MOP) (about $500 U.S.) for individual offenders, and fines from 20,000-200,000 MOP ($2,500-25,000) for businesses.

The government of Thailand has rejected the efforts of one cabinet minister to legalize and regulate nicotine vaping products, and will instead reconfirm the country’s ban on sales and import of e-cigarettes. Thailand’s vape ban has been in place since 2014, and has resulted in notoriously overzealous enforcement.

TPD, namely Tobacco Products Directive or European Tobacco Products Directive (EUTPD), is a directive of the European Union which puts limits on the sale and transaction of tobacco and nicotine related products in the EU, formulated by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and updated to the version that we are subjecting to in the May 2017.The TPD aims to standardize the tobacco/vape market and protect consumers' right. As an overview, the policies for the Tobacco Products Directive(TPD) are: the regulation of tobacco/vape products on the EU market (e.g. packaging, labelling, and ingredients), advertising restrictions for tobacco/vape products, the creation of smoke-free environments, tax measures and activities against illegal trade.

On March 25th, 2022, the Northwest Territories announced that it’s ban on the sale of flavoured vaping products will take effect. This ban was intended to better protect the public and youth from vaping as “a significant health hazard… causing acute lung injury”, despite overwhelming evidence that these events were linked to illegal THC products purchased from the illicit market, not legal nicotine vape products.
