Illegal vaping products apparently targeting children have been seized in a major Middlesbrough-wide crackdown.The six-week operation by Middlesbrough Council's Trading Standards team has seen thousands of potentially dangerous devices removed from sale.The vapes are typically sold in brightly coloured packaging and with flavours and names such as strawberry or banana milkshake, Unicorn Shake and Tiger Blood to appeal to children and young people.It is illegal to sell nicotine inhaling products and refills - popularly known as  e- cigarettes - to anyone under 18, and it is also illegal for anyone to purchase them on their behalf.

On June 30, almost a year after Panama’s National Assembly passed legislation banning vape product sales, Panamanian President Laurentino Cortizo gave his assent to the bill. The new law prohibits sales and importation of all vaping and heated tobacco products, with or without nicotine. The law does not criminalize use, but bans vaping in any place where smoking is not allowed. The new law also prohibits internet purchases, and gives customs officials authority to inspect, detain and seize shipments. Resellers are allowed to import banned products meant for export to third countries, according to La Prensa.

TPD, namely Tobacco Products Directive or European Tobacco Products Directive (EUTPD), is a directive of the European Union which puts limits on the sale and transaction of tobacco and nicotine related products in the EU, formulated by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and updated to the version that we are subjecting to in the May 2017.The TPD aims to standardize the tobacco/vape market and protect consumers' right. This is a significant drop in comparison to the 28% and 11% reported in 2019, with the percentages suggested to equate to a drop of 1.8 million, from 5.4 million to 3.6 million.
