New Zealand has unveiled new messures to help restrict vaping amongst young people.The measures range from limits on sales near schools to a ban on some disposable units, as it extends aggressive anti-smoking campaigns. Although New Zealand has one of the lowest rates of adult smoking among the 38 nations in the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development(OECD),it has banned future generations from smoking in a push to be”smoke-free” by 2025. The Bill proposes to exempt electronic cigarettes transported through Hong Kong via sea-air and land-air intermodal under a new part of the Import and Export Ordinance. Currently, the smoking regulations already provide exemptions for alternative smoking products that are transit articles or air transhipment cargo. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government stated that it will establish a new regulatory system that will be managed, supervised and enforced by the Hong Kong Customs to strengthen the supervision of intermodal transportation of e-cigarettes, thereby reducing the risk of alternative smoking products entering the local market during intermodal transportation in Hong Kong . The bill will be introduced to the Legislative Council for consideration on March 29.

NSW Health has seized more than $1 million worth of illegal e-cigarettes and liquids containing nicotine since January 2022. Since 1 October 2021, products containing nicotine are only available for people over the age of 18 when prescribed by a medical practitioner for smoking cessation purposes. These products are only available from an Australian pharmacy or via importation into Australia with a valid prescription. For all other retailers in NSW, the sale of e-cigarettes or e-liquids containing nicotine is illegal. This also includes online sales.
