Announcing the ban last year, Belgium’s health minister, Frank Vandenbroucke, described electronic cigarettes as an “extremely harmful” product that damages society and the environment. “Disposable e-cigarettes is a new product simply designed to attract new consumers,” he told the Associated Press. “E-cigarettes often contain nicotine. Nicotine makes you addicted to nicotine. Nicotine is bad for your health.”

Three major British grocery chains have removed some Elf Bar disposable vapes from their shelves after the manufacturer admitted that products containing illegal features were distributed to some retailers. Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Morrisons stores have removed watermelon-flavored Elf Bar 600 devices from their stores, and Morrisons has removed all flavors of the 600 series, according to ITV News. Previously, the FDA only had the power to regulate products containing tobacco-based nicotine. Many e-cigarette makers, including Puff Bar, used this loophole to continue selling their nicotine-based products without gaining direct approval from the FDA.
